How to publish in Scopus & High Impact Journal?

Introduction:

Getting published is considered a great achievement. It is considered to be the surest tool for landing the desired job and career progression. It is the best way of getting international recognition and many people have entered international job markets on the basis of their internationally published research. In recent years academia planning department has also placed research in universities as its priority number one. Faculty hiring, promotions either in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) or on Tenure Track System (TTS) is mainly linked with research publications. Survival and growth in academic profession is now mainly dependent on research output. Similarly for Ph.D students, publication of a research paper is mandatory for award of Ph.D degree. However, despite growing concern by universities and faculty members to get more research publications, very few people know the exact methodology, pattern and format for developing a research paper that can meet the requirements of international journals. Resultantly most of research papers are not published by international journals. This workshop is intended to discuss basic format of a research paper which can be published in international journals. By focusing on key areas the workshop will enable participants to develop skills for writing a publishable research paper. The resource persons for this workshop have a proven record of publication in well reputed international journals. They also have an exposure of attending research conferences in various parts of the world.

Major Content of Training Workshop:

  1. Some basic concepts of Research
  2. Why to develop a publishable work
  3. Importance of a Research Paper’s Title
  4. How to write an Abstract
  5. How to write an Introduction
    • Problem Definition
    • Research Gap
    • Argument for Research
  6. Literature review
  7. Objectives
    • How to write a Literature Review
    • How to use Digital Library
  8. How to avoid plagiarism
  9. Practical exercise
  10. Theoretical Framework
  11. Hypothesis Development
  12. Results
  13. Discussion
  14. Journals and their criteria for publication

Writing Proposals for Research Grants

Introduction

This workshop comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process. It is designed for faculty members and administrative staff who have had some exposure to writing grant applications, either through training / mentoring or personal experience. Each presentation is tailored to meet the needs of the audience, i.e., to emphasize the funding agencies (federal, private, and/or industrial sources) that are of greatest interest to the attendees. Emphasis is given to such things as idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant’s case to reviewers. The workshop will emphasizes how to cope with the changes in how grant proposals to that agency are written and reviewed. Regardless of the agency, participants are taught to write with a linear progression of logic, which leads reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two different audiences – the assigned reviewers, who have read the application in its entirety, and non-assigned reviewers who may have read little, or nothing, of the proposal before the meeting of the review panel. Strategies designed to merit a fundable priority score are emphasized.

Objectives

  • Formulating a Research Question
  • Formulating a Hypothesis
  • Aims and Objectives
  • Project Team
  • Short Description of the Project (Abstract)
  • Background
  • Methodology
